What does it look like when the first stars appear on the red planet? Well, maybe very similar to this picture. There is a lot of dust in the atmosphere of Mars that changes the appearance of the night sky itself. Something similar can be experienced every evening and morning during twilight in the southern hemisphere, where the dust from the eruption of Tonga volcano lies high in the air. This photo comes from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, which is at almost the same latitude as the volcano.
